South Pacific Avenue Apartments Pittsburgh

329-339 S. Pacific0001

We do not have much information on this commercial project designed by Wm. J. Carpenter AIA in 1900.  Diana Ames first called it to my attention several years ago and gave me the addresses and parcel ID numbers for the three buildings.  Her covering note included this comment:

“…I just happened to see a resident of one of the buildings who told me there are eleven units in each building.  In spite of the fact that the buildings are in need of quite a bit of work, he loves his apartment because of the architectural details.”

A follow-up on the Allegheny County Assessment Web Site disclosed that each of the three properties are held by separate owners. The assessed value of 329-321 is not given, but the previous year Market value was $210,000.  The assessed value of 333-335 was $252,800 and the assessed value of 337-339 was $351,700.

The images shown here were furnished by Al Tannler of the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, with a comment that the porch was removed on 329-331 and 333-337, but otherwise the exteriors appear to have been maintained in their original condition.  I do not know, but I would guess that the interior floor plans for the three buildings are similar, if not identical.  Any comments?
