The public exhibition of the art work of architect/artist Wm. J. Carpenter AIA during the Palatka Ravine Gardens Festival was a feature attraction.  The event was well attended, with out-of-town visitors including Mr. Carpenter’s five grandchildren, who came from as far away as Costa Rica for the event.

T-shirts Were Popular

At the opening reception onFeb. 26, 2012 Mayor Vernon Myers  recognized Mr. Carpenter, an English emigrant turned successful American architect, as the earliest acknowledged artist to portray the Gardens, soon after the opening as a WPA project in 1937.

One of Mr. Carpenter’s paintings of a serene scene deep within the gardens was featured as the Festival poster and even on T-shirts.  A few of these are still available at $20.00, postage paid.  If you would like one contact Jack to see if your desired size and color is available.

A slide show of the exhibit is being prepared and will be available on CD in a few weeks. Be sure to register as a member on this site and you will be notified when more details are completed.  A FREE subscription will assure that you will receive an alert for future announcements on this site.
